WEEK 4

STUDY THE PCB DRAWING SKILL AND PROGRAMMING KNOWLEDGE

Information is gathered using resources such as the internet, the books and journals available in the library. The searches on the net and library is intended to find the most suitable topic for the Final Year Project that is to be undertaken. Many journals have been read so as to better familiar rise oneself to the topics usually taken by student and isolate those that are not yet undertaken by any students.

Supporting components in this case means components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors and amplifiers. Information on these components can be obtained easily from normal component stores and can be recommended by the Supervisor for the most perfect type to be used. One thing to be remembered is the fact that each component picked must match in the system as so to balance it and not disrupt the inner workings of the project.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT TOOLS REQUIRED

1. Computer - to draw schematic and PCB for the system.

2. PCB development tools - Blade, PCB developer.

3. PCB assembly tools - Cutter, Pliers, Soldering iron, Mini drill.

4. Programming development tools - PCW C-Compiler, Winpic800 USB Downloader Software, Universal PIC Programmer.

WEEK 1 AND WEEK 2

During week 1 and 2, I have gone through what is done for my final year project 1 last semester. For more understanding I have learn more about GSM System and the circuit that I must use for this project. The aim and objective for this project is to develop the Reading Meter Using GSM System that produce the electrical energy and data communication to connect between hand-phone and GSM.

I also have made some of the circuit design ideas for my project. From the picture below, there are some ideas and I must do it to make me achieve my objective.

INTRODUCTION TO FINAL YEARS PROJECT 2

For Final Years Project 1 last semester, I have decide to do the Electrical Energy Meter Monitoring System with Mobile Network Integration and I will develop this project in this semester.

INTRODUCTION:

This blog presents design and development of a GSM based energy monitoring. This system integrates digital energy meters installed at our home with our handphone. Single phase or three phase digital electric meter can be used with indigenously developed add on transmission module, which takes the meter reading and utilizes the GSM network to transmit the energy usage reading using Short Message Service (SMS) back to the energy supplier. At the supplier end, an energy monitoring system is used to manage all received meter readings, compute the billing cost, update the database and maintain an energy consumption profile for each user. Various alerts and control can also be generated by the owner. A simple, cost effective and reliable working prototype of complete system has been developed using digital energy meter to demonstrate an efficient and transparent means of automatic meter reading, billing and notification through the use of GSM network.
